Baby Nursery Fabric – Creating your own nursery bedding can be a rewarding project. Not only will the new bedding keep your baby warm and comfortable but you will have a family heirloom once the baby moves from the crib. Your own nursery for sewing bedding can produce impressive results. Making the bed yourself can also be less expensive than buying a commercially made system, depending on how extravagant or detailed you to want it.
Decide on a color scheme or nursery theme. And look for fabrics that are 100% cotton to provide the best wear. Look for a crib bedding pattern. A pattern is a guide for a sewing project and ensures the correct shape and size for the fabric. Determine the amount of fabric needed. This amount can found on the back of the pattern pack.

Cut the fabric. Place the material on a clean, flat table and place the pattern pieces with straight pins. Carefully cut the entire pattern with scissors. Pin the pieces together. Hold them temporarily together with straight pins around the outside of the fabric, approximately 1/4 to ½ inch from the edge of the fabric. Be sure to carefully match patterns, shapes, squares or stripes. Sew carefully. Each piece of bedding may require different sewing techniques and machine configuration.
